Getting Started

First things first…

As you move through the onboarding process, you will need to document progress on a checklist, which is required for accreditation and policy purposes. It is a simple digital form that you can save and update over time. Once you have completed the checklist, a copy will go in your personnel file.

To access the checklist, right-click on the button and select “Open link in new tab” or “Open link in new window”.

Let’s get started!

There are a handful of required and recommended first steps to help you get settled at UW.  Click each tab below and follow the action items. While you are more than welcome to get a head start, you are not expected to complete onboarding tasks before your start date or outside of your regular workdayNote: some tasks may not apply to rehired, transferring, or student hourly employees.

Once your hire has been processed, you will be assigned a UW NetID. Your UW NetID provides access to many UW online services and systems, including those associated with onboarding. One of the most frequently used systems is Workday – UW’s human resources and payroll system.

As a first step, click the button below to log into Workday and complete required onboarding tasks. These tasks are individualized based on your specific position.

Log into Workday

UW must verify your employment eligibility within 3 days of your start date. Please note that this step is required by federal law and must occur in person.  Review I-9 requirements and schedule a verification appointment via the link below.

NOTE: If you are a current UW employee transferring into a new position within the School of Nursing or from another UW department, you may be required to re-verify your I-9 if your last verification was 3+ years ago.

Welcome Day explores the UW Employee Benefits package and the importance of creating and maintaining an inclusive and safe learning and work environment. Depending on your position type, you may be required to attend. Those not required to attend may still find some value in attending all or part of the orientation – especially for information related to benefits options.

Explore attendance requirements and/or register for Welcome Day by clicking the button below.

The Husky Card is the official identification card for members of the UW community. Not only does it provide you access to services and opportunities, you will need your Husky Card to gain access to School of Nursing facilities.

How to Get a Husky Card

In addition to completing onboarding tasks in Workday, you will need to complete required trainings mandated by UW policy and/or state law.
