UW’s website contains a lot of useful information – from news items to academic and administrative content to policy directories and more. Below are key starting points that will help you navigate UW’s online ecosystem.
UW Homepage
UW has a comprehensive homepage that serves as a jumping off point to a wealth of information.
Check out the Quick Links tab at the top of every webpage. It includes a MyUW link, which connects you to resources, tools, and systems associated with your employment. When you open MyUW, you can navigate to an expanded list of resources by clicking on the UW Resources option in the side menu.
This is the internal website for the School’s administrative and academic units to share/house policies, processes, documents, directories, and other resources and information specific to the School of Nursing.
It is built on SharePoint, a Microsoft web-based platform, and is limited to UW School of Nursing personnel.
You’ll be able to access the SoN Intranet once you have a UW NetID.
This is UW’s catalog of policies. It is comprised of six sections:
Faculty Code & Governance
Focused on authority, organization, and functioning of the faculty; Chapter 24 is among the most helpful sections for new faculty as it covers the appointment and promotion of faculty members.
Focused on directives/rulings from the UW President (“executive orders”) and delegations of authority (“administrative orders”); several executive orders may useful for new employees to explore including those governing conflict of interest (EO32), professional leave (EO33), outside work (EO57), research misconduct (EO61), and behavioral misconduct (EO81).
Focused on the UW’s administrative approach when implementing a statute, rule, agency order, or other provision of law and policy. Section 40 is useful for new employees as it covers different employment types and programs at UW.
Focused on the organizational structure, authority, and policies of the Board of Regents. Regents are appointed by the governor to govern and steward the University in succession to past citizens, and for the benefit of present and future citizens of the State of Washington, as provided by statute. The Board selects, supervises, and evaluates the University President to whom it delegates day-to-day administration of the University, in consultation with the faculty, in accordance with statute.
There is a small collection of Employment & Administrative policies – labeled in the directory as EAPs – that don’t fit neatly into other policy sections. Very few policies reside here as most have been retired or repurposed to other sections of the policy directory.
